All the Cedar Vibes, None of the Compromise: Meet Apollo

When performance and versatility matter, Apollo® offers a fresh take on what hardwood can do. This thermally modified West African hardwood is lightweight yet durable, designed to deliver consistent performance across both interior and exterior applications. Often positioned as a cedar alternative, Apollo combines the warmth of natural wood with enhanced stability and resilience.

One of the standout features of Apollo is its durability. Through a proprietary thermal modification process, the wood becomes more resistant to moisture, decay, and environmental wear, bringing it into the same durability class as clear all heart Western Red Cedar. Its low density also makes it easier to work with, while still maintaining strength and structural integrity. With minimal shrinkage (less than 1%), Apollo offers excellent stability, helping reduce movement over time in changing climates.

Aesthetically, Apollo delivers a clean and consistent look. Its caramel brown to amber tones create a warm, inviting appearance, while its ribbon-like grain pattern adds subtle visual interest without overpowering a design. Over time, it can naturally weather to a soft silver-gray if left untreated, or maintain its rich color with the use of UV-protective finishes. This flexibility makes it ideal for siding, soffits, ceilings, trim, beams, and pergolas, adapting to a wide range of design styles.

At Greenline West, materials like Apollo align with our focus on sourcing products that balance beauty, performance, and practicality. Especially in demanding climates, we prioritize options that offer long-term durability without sacrificing design. By bringing in innovative materials like Apollo, we’re able to provide our clients with reliable, visually appealing solutions that are built to last.
